Shortly after Ethan started his new job, my sister and her oldest, Haleigh came to visit us. We had such an awesome, action packed week! We did a duck tour on Lake Union, went paddle boarding on the sound, did a hike up to a mountain lake, ate great food and just had an all around awesome time together! Here are some pictures from the week.
At Chocolati, a favorite of mine… homemade chocolates! Also notice Hannah Gray’s new phase of not looking at the camera…

Our day at Rainer National Park. Hannah Gray came prepared and everyone had a chance to play in the icy cold river. Haleigh was showing us her downward dog (or more like rubbing in that she didn’t fall into freezing water when doing this move! I totally fell into the sound while paddle boarding trying to do some crazy move like this…)

Best ice cream. ever. After our day at Rainer, we went to Molly Moon’s. Hands down, best ice cream in the country (we should know after being mid-west, east coast, northern east coast then west coast, right?). We enjoyed salted caramel, honey lavendar, Theo chocolate (local, famous organic chocolate made in Seattle), scout mint and I think we tried a cucumber basil and a balsamic strawberry too.
Cousin time! We finished many of our nights together with a great game of dutch blitz. Then we took a ferry ride over to Paulsbo, which is just across part of the sound. We tried to go to Friday Harbor in the San Juans and realized the ferry wasn’t running a time we could catch that day. We were super bummed, but ended up hitting the jackpot in several ways in Paulsbo that day!
We enjoyed a picnic oven baked pizza on the water front…
Then as we waited to catch the ferry to go back home, Melissa and Haleigh found another amazing dessert. We also celebrated a couple of our finds at a local thrift shop. Haleigh found much wanted Chacos and a Helly Hansen fleece and I found a pair of capris that I had been looking for! What a fun day!
Getting ready to get out on the sound… Melissa showing us how it’s done.
Haleigh doing her thing and a group shot with our amazing life jackets. The funny part was I think they were all child size, up to 40 lb… good to know we were well equiped!
We had an amazing week together and honestly tried to figure out if there was a way for them to stay longer! We could have easily packed many more things into a couple more days or even just have sat around the house and visited. Hannah Gray and Tenley had a blast with them as well and really enjoyed the extra girl time!
