First hike!

Yesterday we went up to the base if the Cascades for a quick little hike to accomplish a few things. One, just a need to get out. Two, a chance to take Hannah Gray on her first hike where she was never intended to be in the pack (so needed to be a good challenge for her yet completely achieve able) and then finally, to get Sutton out for we first time in the real hiking backpack. An we would say it was a success on all three fronts! :)

We have a laugh!!

Last night Sutton absolutely cracked up at me as I was swaddling her at bedtime. She was starring at me, looking like she was getting ready to talk, then just laughed. It was awesome. I forgot to tell the girls this morning, but Hannah Gray quickly discovered the new development and she just lit up running to find me to tell me she was laughing!! So fun!!!

Blueberry picking!

One thing about the Pacific Northwest is the amazing berries!!! We hit the season early and hope to go again soon. We had some amazing blueberry muffins!

Before and After!

A good friend of mine from when we lived here the first time had a due date about 3 weeks after mine, but our babies arrived just within a week of each other thanks to a very patient Sutton! Here is Kendall and me at her baby shower, I was about 2 days away from my due date.

Hannah Gray’s Baptism

Last week, August 8th, Hannah Gray got baptized in the Puget Sound. It was a great night of bbq-ing with our church family and we had a few close friends join us there as well. It was a great night!!

sister time!

We scored a playset for free and after Ethan spent a weekend reinforcing and replacing some boards, it’s ready to go!! Here is a picture of the girls playing in the fort. Come to find out, they had carried their babies, blankets, medical kit and Hannah doggie out there to play midwife because Tenley’s baby Joseph was having a baby… Smile

Seafare

There is a month long celebration that takes place in several of the waterfront communities across the city every year called Seafare. To be honest, I don’t really know why or how it started, but along the way, it became a heavy pirate theme. We took the girls down to West Seattle to watch the pirates arrive as the Seafare celebration began. The pirates’ boats arrived off the shore and then dinghies brought the pirates ashore and these guys were legit looking. So much so, that the girls weren’t really sure what they thought. They finally agreed to get in a picture with one, but when he tried to give Hannah Gray his knife to hold up to him, both girls were about to bail. I can’t say I blame them. But you can see the progression between the first picture of the girls with the pirate and then the one where HG is holding the knife. HG finally got her “Arrrrr” in and was done. Smile

Our month of July as a family of five!

IMG_3503IMG_3504

July was a busy month for us! We began to venture out for scheduled events like swim lessons. I was nervous about getting to a 10:00 class on time, but we did it!

IMG_3513IMG_3508

Tenley got to go to a friend’s 3rd bday party and really enjoyed the pony ride. She wasn’t expecting to ride a running pony, but she liked it, but only enough for 1 time through…

Sutton hanging out with Daddy. We have this same picture with each of the girls (albeit in Cincinnati, New Jersey and now Seattle).

Hannah Gray got to learn about soccer, basketball and baseball at a sports camp that she did with a couple friends. She had such a great time, although after the first day she said, “my favorite was soccer and I liked basketball too, but baseball was boring”. Can’t say that I am surprised! Smile By the end of the week, she really did enjoy baseball as well.

She got a merit certificate at a little “awards” ceremony

Somehow I don’t have a picture (just a video), but Hannah Gray got a new BIG kid bike- a bike with big tires and her tippy toes barely reach the ground. But she can start and stop all on her own and she can fly! Not going to lie, in our hilly beachy type of neighborhood, it makes me nervous about how fast she gets going!! I am totally that mom now. So now we have Tenley learning to ride Hannah Gray’s old bike and this was her first time on it.

We have been working on our summer bucket list and here are two items crossed off, actually three. Swimming at a lake and eating a treat from an ice cream truck (above post swim, with treat in hand) and then an outdoor movie. We watched “Finding Nemo” out in the park and ended up all snuggled up under blankets. We forgot how late dusk is here in Seattle, so the movie didn’t really start until close to 10!!!

What a fun month as a family of five!
