Oh Tanner

Tanner has found a new favorite place to lay... between Hannah Gray's crib and rocker. Well actually, behind the rocker. He doesn't even seem to care that there is a huge risk in getting a paw or tail squished (as you can see in the picture). He loves to be near her!
The other post-bath picture was just too cute, I had to put it on here.

Tummy Time and cute pics

Hannah Gray seems to be enjoying her tummy time a bit more now. As you can see, it even seems to relax her sometimes. I think it kind of defeats the purpose of tummy time if she falls asleep, but it's cute none the less.

We have a SMILE!

We've been seeing Hannah Gray smile, but it was hard to determine if it was gas or a responsive smile. Well, we have our answer! These pictures were taken in the morning after she was fed and had a clean diaper on. She was super talkative and gave me a huge gummy smile.

Quirks

Gray has this little thing she does and I'm not sure which event comes first, but the outcome is almost always the same. Either way what happens is she somehow ends up finding her hair (not that that's difficult considering the sheer amount she has and how long it's now getting) and gets a big fistfull. Enough of a fistfull that you can see at least an inch of hair sticking out between her clenched fingers. Then she gets upset and starts to cry. However, the more she cries the tighter she clenches her fist and the more she pulls her hair so she cries harder. It continues to escalate. The tricky part is removing her fist. Ethan's first response was, "just pull her hand out". Easier said than done. This kiddo has quite a grip and she also graps her hair right at the very bottom of the hair so it's not like you can just grab her hair below her fist and pull her hand away. You pull her hand, you pull her hair.

The trick I've found is to distract her and get her to move her hand on her own. The scene is pretty hilarious but then I feel badly for her! It does happen pretty consistently. Here are a couple pics of her in the act...

Meeting the MN Petros!

Uncle Ben and Aunt Jaime were in Ohio for a wedding so we were able to hang out with them for a couple days. It was great to see them and introduce Hannah Gray to her aunt and uncle.

5 weeks

Wow, Hannah Gray is 5 weeks old today! I can't believe it. In so many ways, she still seems so tiny. Then I look at her and she how big her cheeks are getting and I feel like she's growing so quickly! She's a great sleeper already. Basically after her first week and a half or so, she would only wake up twice to eat. Then she quickly moved to eating only once. We've been fortunate enough that she's pulled several all nighters already. Sleeping all night that is. She'll go down for the evening between 10 and 11 and get up between 5 and 6. Last night was thankfully one of those nights! We're praying (especially me) that it becomes a regular occurance.

Here is a picture I took of her today at 5 weeks and also a picture of her with our doctor that delivered her. I wanted a picture of him with us at the hospital when she was born but he quietly slipped out of the delivery room after she was born. So I took the opportunity at my appointment to get one. Hannah had hit her limit of being in her car seat by the time he came in for the appointment. So Dr. Bowen held her as he chatted with me and finished the appointment.

Birthday Celebrations!

We were able to celebrate Gary's birthday with him while they were in town and last night we had cousin Caleb's birthday. Gray was really flexible and laid back and gave everyone a chance to hold her. As you can see in the picture, she has a very proud big cousin...

Visit from the Chicago Petros!

This last weekend Gary, Katie, Grant and Norah made the trip from Chicago to come meet Miss Hannah Gray and to spend some time together. We had a great time with them and hope to see them soon! The Petro cousins are super cute together!!

First Trip to the Lake!

Our now family of 4 (but minus Tanner), packed up and headed down to the lake to celebrate the fourth at my parent's house on Lake Cumberland. Hannah Gray did really well traveling. I think we only stopped once during the 4 hr drive. She slept really well and enjoyed the time on the boat, despite the heat. Here are a few pictures from the week.
